The company's journey began in 1971 when Gill Veilleux started working in the flooring industry. Quickly rising through the ranks, Gill built a strong reputation and honed his expertise over 16 years.

In 1987, with the unwavering support of his wife Claire, Gill took a leap of faith and opened Floor Systems. One of the first "Factory Direct" flooring stores in the country, Floor Systems thrived on the principle of "cutting out the middleman" to offer customers the best possible value.

Growth was slow and deliberate, with Gill prioritizing customer satisfaction above all else. This commitment to service and quality has been a cornerstone of Floor Systems' success since its inception and remains at the heart of the company today.

Today, Floor Systems is led by the second generation of the Veilleux family. Richard Veilleux, Gill's son, has been involved with the company since his teenage years, learning every aspect of the flooring business from the warehouse and installation side to sales and operations.

After earning a degree in Chemical Engineering, Richard gained valuable industry experience working as a manufacturer's representative for Shaw Floors, one of the largest flooring manufacturers in the world. Bringing together technical expertise and real-world flooring knowledge, he returned to Floor Systems and gradually became Gill's partner in the business, helping lead the company's growth and evolution. Today, Richard oversees the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of Floor Systems while continuing the family commitment to service, expertise, and value.

While Gill Veilleux has retired from active management, he remains an important part of the company as a consultant and partner. His decades of experience, industry relationships, and entrepreneurial spirit continue to provide guidance and insight, helping ensure that the values upon which Floor Systems was founded remain strong for future generations. Together, Gill and Richard represent a seamless blend of experience and innovation that continues to drive the company forward

From its humble beginnings in Lewiston to its current location in Lisbon, Maine, Floor Systems has grown into one of New England's premier flooring showrooms—while remaining proudly family-owned and committed to serving generations of customers with integrity, expertise, and personal service.
